Novra Qualifies for All Five Streams of Canada’s Defence Drone Marketplace

Novra Technologies Inc. (TSXV: NVI) (OTCQB: NVRVF) has qualified to compete across all five streams of Canada’s new Defence Drone Initiative Marketplace through its International Datacasting Corporation subsidiary.

The Winnipeg-based company announced that International Datacasting, or IDC, was accepted into the marketplace’s prequalified supplier pool.

The five streams cover uncrewed and counter-uncrewed systems, communications and cybersecurity, integration and engineering services, testing and training, and innovation and experimentation.

Qualification allows IDC to compete for future opportunities from the Department of National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces. Potential work could involve research, prototyping, testing, demonstrations, systems integration and production associated with autonomous and remotely operated systems.

The Government of Canada launched the initiative in July to accelerate the development, testing, adaptation and production of uncrewed systems for the Canadian Armed Forces and Canadian Coast Guard.

Rather than representing a single procurement contract, the marketplace creates a pool of approved Canadian suppliers that government departments can approach for specific requirements.

Novra does not primarily manufacture drones. Its IDC subsidiary develops secure communications, encrypted data-delivery and networked systems that can support the operation and coordination of uncrewed platforms.

The company also provides satellite, terrestrial and internet-protocol distribution technology for government, defense, broadcasting, digital signage and other data-intensive applications.

Qualification under the new marketplace does not constitute a contract award or guarantee future revenue. IDC must still compete for individual opportunities, and the value, timing and scope of any resulting work remain unknown.

Novra’s latest financial results illustrate the importance of converting the qualification into commercial orders. Second-quarter revenue declined 39.5% to C$826,052 from C$1.37 million during the same period in 2025.

The company recorded an operating loss of C$497,214, compared with operating income of C$243,545 one year earlier. Its quarterly net loss attributable to Novra shareholders was C$320,417, compared with net income of C$78,903.

For the first six months of 2026, revenue declined to C$1.72 million from C$2.76 million. Novra recorded a six-month net loss attributable to shareholders of C$251,734, compared with net income of C$647,609 in the prior-year period.

Novra ended June with C$3.60 million in cash, up from C$1.47 million at the end of 2025. The company remains a small, thinly traded issuer whose financial results can vary significantly depending on the timing of customer orders.

Upcoming Catalysts

The central catalyst will be whether IDC wins its first contract through the Defence Drone Initiative Marketplace. Future announcements could involve research programs, prototypes, testing services, communications systems or production-related work.

Investors may also watch Novra’s upcoming financial reports for evidence of revenue recovery, new government or defense orders and updates from its Government and Defense division. The company has not provided guidance on the timing or potential value of any marketplace opportunities.
