MiMedia Holdings Inc. (TSXV: MIM) has signed a multi-year agreement to distribute its consumer cloud platform through Africell’s telecommunications operations in four African markets.
Under the distribution agreement announced September 8, Africell will offer a private-label version of MiMedia’s platform to subscribers in Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone and The Gambia.
Africell provides mobile-network and related technology services to more than 15 million subscribers. Its existing digital offerings include mobile data, the MyAfricell application and Afrimoney, a service used for payments, transfers and other financial transactions.
MiMedia’s software allows consumers to store, organize and access personal content—including photos, videos and contacts—across multiple devices and operating systems. The platform could be offered through software modules integrated into Africell’s existing applications or through a separate cloud-storage app.
The agreement also includes mobile-advertising capabilities intended to create additional revenue from Africell’s digital properties. MiMedia and Africell will operate under a licensing and revenue-sharing model, although the companies did not disclose the percentage allocated to either party, pricing details or minimum revenue commitments.
Africell Chief Commercial Officer Nadia Moati said the carrier wants to bring the service to market “as soon as possible.” However, the announcement did not provide a launch date or specify whether deployment will occur simultaneously across all four countries.
MiMedia described the agreement as its most expansive mobile-operator partnership. The company has also been pursuing distribution through smartphone manufacturers, including a recently announced integration with devices manufactured by Shenzhen Doke Electronic Company for shipment to Eastern Europe.
The Africell relationship gives MiMedia access to a large potential subscriber base, but access does not guarantee adoption. Revenue will depend on factors including the rollout schedule, product pricing, subscriber conversion, engagement and the commercial terms of the revenue-sharing arrangement.
MiMedia remains at an early stage financially. For the second quarter of 2026, the company reported revenue of US$3,491 and a net loss of US$1.12 million. First-half revenue totaled US$5,707, while the six-month net loss reached US$2.20 million.
Those results illustrate the gap between MiMedia’s announced distribution reach and its current recognized revenue. The Africell agreement could become commercially meaningful if it results in a broad rollout and sustained subscriber adoption, but the announcement alone does not establish the timing or scale of any future revenue.
Upcoming Catalysts
The next milestones include technical integration, product pricing and confirmation of a commercial launch date. Investors may also watch whether Africell initially introduces the service in one market or across all four simultaneously.
Subsequent financial reports could provide the first indication of subscriber adoption and revenue generated through the partnership. Other useful disclosures would include paid-user numbers, average revenue per user, MiMedia’s share of subscription or advertising revenue and costs associated with supporting the deployment.
